  • Ohio State says resignation followed inappropriate relationship and access
  • Business filings list WOSU address and are under university review
  • JobsOhio sponsored the podcast and says sponsorship followed legal review

krisanthe vlachos is identified by multiple outlets as the woman at the center of an inquiry that led to Ohio State President Ted Carter's resignation, the university said the resignation followed an inappropriate relationship with someone seeking public resources for a personal business.

The Rooster reported more than six independent sources identified Vlachos as the podcaster involved, and US News and The Dispatch also linked her to the matter through reporting and public records.

Ohio State spokesman Ben Johnson told the board an unnamed source alerted trustees about the relationship, and the board confronted Carter, who then disclosed the situation and offered to resign, according to The Dispatch.

Investigation Details And Related Activity

Vlachos hosts The Callout Podcast, a veterans-focused program described in reporting as connecting veterans to energy and utilities topics, and she has interviewed Carter multiple times, US News said, noting he appeared in nine of 14 episodes published this year.

JobsOhio acknowledged it sponsored the podcast and said that sponsorship was part of outreach, adding the support went through its standard legal process, the organization told US News.

Public records and reporting show business filings tied to Vlachos that list a WOSU address. The Rooster reported a December filing for VETERNUSALLC that used Ohio State-owned WOSU as its headquarters, and The Dispatch reported Vlachos registered Vet Earn USA LLC on Dec. 19 listing 1800 N. Pearl Street, WOSU's address.

University officials said the business filing is part of the ongoing investigation into possible use of public resources, and The Dispatch noted the university did not specify what resources or the precise nature of the relationship.

Reporting described the podcast's audience sizes as relatively small, with individual episodes drawing mostly a few hundred views, and The Rooster cited a Jan. 7 episode that had 137 views on YouTube.

US News highlighted a photograph from a Student Veterans of America conference showing Carter with Vlachos and SVA president Cory Boatwright, and noted Vlachos captioned Carter as her "dear friend and mentor." The Dispatch reported Vlachos had not responded to requests for comment.

The Callout Podcast and Vlachos were involved in events with Ohio State and outside partners, including a performance and a veterans workforce event that listed Ohio State, JobsOhio, American Electric Power and the Columbus Partnership as partners, according to US News.
