Nintendo used its Direct broadcast to unveil Metroid Ravenous as a new 2D action entry starring Samus Aran, and confirmed it will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 platform, as reported by Nintendo.
The presentation described the game in stark terms, framing the experience around survival and predation for the series heroine. Nintendo also announced an amiibo collection tied to the release, including individual Samus and Chozo Statue figures and a third Samus amiibo packaged with a special edition that bundles the game and a steel case. Pre-orders for the title were said to begin later today, according to the company.
Nintendo placed Metroid Ravenous at the centre of a broader showcase that combined new entries, remasters and platform-specific editions. The Direct made clear the company intends to use exclusive Switch 2 releases alongside upgraded versions of recent hits to drive interest in the new hardware.
Broader Direct Reveals And Platform Updates
Alongside Metroid Ravenous, Nintendo highlighted Kirby and the World Beyond as another Switch 2 exclusive, inviting players to explore an expansive 3D world and use Kirby’s Copy Abilities in new ways, the company said.
Nintendo also detailed several upgraded editions and new features for existing titles. Hyrule Warriors got a Definitive Edition for the Switch 2 with enhanced visuals, a higher frame rate and all expansion content. Pikmin 4 will appear as a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with a new Dandori Academy mode and voice command support for the pup companion Oatchi using the console’s built-in microphone. Nintendo said Dandori Academy will roll out dozens of stages with online leaderboards and recurring timed exams.
The showcase included platform-wide updates and third-party releases. Monster Hunter Wilds was confirmed for Switch 2 with full cross-platform multiplayer support and all title updates included. Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival were among the major third-party entries slated for the system. Nintendo also announced a free Mario Kart World update that adds ten Super Mario Kart courses and a Spectator Mode, plus a Star Fox update expanding Battle Mode to four players on a single Switch 2 system and adding three new stages. Several remasters and collections were flagged as coming to the system, and some pre-orders and free demos were made available immediately, according to Nintendo’s presentation.
