Fi, a New York pet supplement company, is recalling two dog supplements after the products were found to have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The contamination is linked to an ingredient supplied to Fi’s contract manufacturer. The manufacturer has suspended production while it investigates.
The recall covers Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs, 180 g, Lot No. 26118, UPC 8 50064 80011 1, and Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, 180 g, Lot No. 26159, UPC 8 50055 11168 4. The products were sold directly to consumers and through online retailers Amazon and Chewy.com.
Fi is notifying affected customers and urging those who purchased the listed lots to stop using the products immediately. Consumers are told to make sure the container is tightly sealed and to dispose of the product in the trash rather than recycle it. Fi provided a customer support phone number and email for questions.
Salmonella can infect animals that consume contaminated products and can also pose a risk to people who handle the products or contact animal waste. Healthy people infected may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Pets may become lethargic, vomit, have fever, or show diarrhea or bloody diarrhea. Infected animals can carry and spread the bacteria without obvious signs.

Consumers with health concerns after contact with the recalled products are advised to contact their healthcare provider. Pet owners whose animals show symptoms after consuming the supplements should contact their veterinarian. The company advised customers to stop use and discard affected lots while the manufacturer investigates the ingredient source. The recall was published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
