The Food and Drug Administration has issued an update expanding a recall of Lundberg Family Farms jasmine white rice, saying 54,648 pounds of product are now affected. The agency identified the recall as a Class II action and provided package and distribution details.
The recalled product is sold in 32 ounce packages with UPC code 073416040281, the FDA said. The packages carry best before dates of February 1 and 2 2027 and list lot numbers 260201MA and 260202MA.
The agency said 27,324 packages are included in the expanded recall and that those packages were distributed to 12 states. Retailers named in reporting include Wegmans and national outlets such as Target and Walmart.
The recall stems from concerns about possible foreign material in the rice, the FDA said, though the agency has not specified the nature of that material. A consumer food outlet previously noted common foreign objects in rice recalls can include stones, wood, metal, and plastic.

The FDA classified the action as Class II, indicating the agency believes consumption may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, and that serious outcomes are rare. That classification comes from the agency's update.
Consumers who have the affected packages are advised not to eat the rice and to dispose of it, the FDA advised. Wegmans has said it removed the product from store shelves and will issue full refunds for affected purchases made in its locations.
Shoppers who bought the recalled product at other stores should contact their point of purchase to learn about refund policies, the FDA said. The agency has encouraged consumers with questions to consult their retailers for next steps.
The recall notice provides UPC, lot and best before information so consumers can identify impacted packages, the FDA said. Lundberg Family Farms is owned by Wehah Farms, based in California, and the company name appears on recalled packages.
