Down Detector logged more than 12,900 instances of trouble, with about 99 percent of those reports tied to ChatGPT, as reported by the monitoring site.
OpenAI acknowledged the disruption on its official OpenAI Status page and said it had identified elevated errors for the impacted services and was working on a fix. OpenAI also noted the incident had been ongoing for 10 minutes at the time of its update, while users had been reporting problems on Down Detector for more than 30 minutes.
According to OpenAI, affected users may have experienced trouble logging into ChatGPT accounts, having conversations with the chatbot, uploading files, or using voice mode. The company also lists ChatGPT with the lowest uptime among APIs, ChatGPT, and Sora, at 98.67 percent, as reported by OpenAI.
