Diablo 2 players can now access a new Warlock class through the Reign of the Warlock expansion, delivered by Diablo II: Resurrected update 1.34/1.034, Blizzard Entertainment announced.
The Warlock is described by Blizzard as a summoner forged in Hell, focused on demon summoning, binding and transformation to control the battlefield.
In Diablo II: Resurrected the Warlock can summon Goatman, Tainted and Defiler demons, bind them to gain unique abilities, and devour them to absorb temporary buffs, as reported by coverage of the expansion.
Blizzard and the update notes add new endgame systems, including Terrorized Acts that increase difficulty and rewards, Heralds of Terror who become more dangerous with each encounter, and the Colossal Ancients boss unlocked by combining five mystical statues.
The patch introduces quality of life tools, such as built-in Loot Filters with sharing on PC, advanced stash tabs that support stacking, and a Chronicle system to track uniques, sets and runewords, according to the Reign of the Warlock highlights.
Reign of the Warlock is offered as a paid expansion, and Blizzard lists additional digital rewards in the Infernal Edition and ownership bundles, including two stash tabs, two character slots, a Diablo IV Warlock pet, and cross-game collectibles tied to Diablo IV and World of Warcraft.
Warlock Expansion In The Diablo Franchise And Lord Of Hatred Context
Blizzard said the Warlock will also appear in Diablo IV as part of the Lord of Hatred expansion, which launches on April 28, and will join the Paladin class on day one for players who preorder the expansion, Blizzard noted.
Blizzard characterized the Diablo IV Warlock as a master of dark magic, forbidden rites and hellfire, calling it the franchise's most heavy metal class and a dark counterpart to the Paladin.
The developer scheduled a further Developer Update for March 5 to reveal more Diablo IV Warlock details, and described new Diablo IV endgame features arriving with Lord of Hatred, including War Plans, an overhauled skill tree, the return of the Horadric Cube, Echoing Hatred event and even fishing.
Blizzard also confirmed the Warlock will appear in Diablo Immortal this summer, with that mobile and PC implementation centering on a demon called the Soulgorger, and tied to a Lut Gholein origin quest and an encounter with Andariel, as reported by coverage.
