Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream has issued a voluntary recall of a limited set of Outshine Fruit Bars after discovering possible glass fragments in some packages. The company said the recalled items were distributed to retailers nationwide and that no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.
The recall covers select 6‑count packages of 2.5‑ounce Outshine Fruit Bars in strawberry, watermelon, grape, tangerine and black cherry varieties. Dreyer’s advised consumers to check the bottom of the package for listed batch codes and to discard or return affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Packages affected carry specific batch codes printed on the bottom of the package. Example batch codes cited by the company include LLA616903, LLA617603, LLA619003 and LLA620303 among others. The recall notice also lists UPCs for impacted varieties, including 041548610047 for Strawberry, 041548413624 for Watermelon, 041548244044 and 041548000121 for Grape, and 041548612041 for Tangerine.
The company reiterated that other Outshine products and varieties are not affected. In its public statement Dreyer’s said product safety, quality and integrity remain its highest priority and apologized for the inconvenience to consumers and retail customers.
Consumer Guidance And Company Response
Dreyer’s told consumers who purchased the affected packages to either throw them away or return them to the retailer for a full refund. The company also recommended that anyone concerned about a possible injury contact a healthcare provider. The firm described the action as voluntary and limited in scope. It urged the public that other Outshine items are not implicated and repeated a commitment to maintaining food safety and quality standards while working to regain consumer trust.
Health risks cited in the recall materials note that glass pieces in frozen food can cut the mouth, throat or digestive tract if swallowed. The company did not report any confirmed injuries related to the affected packages at the time of its announcement.
