Clavicular, known off‑platform as Braden Peters, was hospitalised in Miami after a suspected overdose during a live stream, as reported by CBS News Miami.
Miami Fire told CBS News Miami crews were called to the corner of 9th Street and South Miami Avenue in Brickell after reports of a possible overdose of a 20‑year‑old man.
Video from the live stream caused concern among followers because Peters appeared disoriented and then the feed abruptly ended, CBS News Miami reported. The outlet also noted Peters has been open about past drug use, including using meth to lose weight.
TMZ obtained audio of the emergency dispatch in which a dispatcher described a suspected "20‑year‑old male overdose", and CBS News confirmed the hospitalisation. The Age said Peters was filmed rubbing his eyes and holding his hands behind his head during a stream at a Miami nightclub with fellow looksmaxxer Androgenic.
The Age reported that users posted videos appearing to show Peters being carried out of the nightclub and down stairs. The stream platform Kick was identified by The Age as the broadcast service used for the stream.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said it conducted a battery investigation into an incident at an Airbnb in Kissimmee, Florida, that took place in February, and determined Peters instigated a fight between two women and posted the video on social media, as reported by CBS News Miami.
CBS News Miami said an arrest warrant followed and Peters was arrested in Fort Lauderdale. The Age reported sources close to Peters told TMZ he did not instigate the fight and accused the complainant of seeking fame. The Age also reported Peters was released on a $US1000 bond and the matter remains before the courts.
Background And Wider Context
Peters is the face of the looksmaxxing movement, a subculture that promotes extreme measures to alter appearance, The Age reported. The outlet said the movement includes practices such as micro‑dosing methamphetamines, steroid and testosterone use, and even smashing facial bones, though it added Peters has allegedly done some but not all of those practices.
Curtin University internet studies professor Tama Leaver told The Age Peters exists at the intersection of several online movements and embodies parts of the "manosphere", and that a portion of his audience takes his example seriously, which Leaver said could be damaging.
The Age noted Peters walked out of an interview with 60 Minutes Australia after a series of questions from correspondent Adam Hegarty about his links to incels and the influencer Andrew Tate. The outlet also described Kick as the second‑largest live streaming platform, co‑founded by Edward Craven, and cited a past live stream death on the platform to illustrate concerns about content moderation.
