Summary
  • Suspect identified as Jared Llamado and worked as a Foreign Service Officer
  • Four women were stabbed, one woman and a dog died at the scene
  • Trooper shot the armed suspect and was not injured
  • Virginia State Police lead the investigation and lane closures occurred

Jared Llamado, identified by Virginia State Police as the man shot by a trooper after a highway crash, is named in reports as jared llamado and described as the suspect in the attack on I-495 southbound.

Virginia State Police said a state trooper responded to what was reported as a road rage incident on the southbound lanes near Exit 52 and encountered a man armed with a knife, and that the trooper then shot the suspect in self defense.

Four stabbing victims were found at the scene, and authorities identified the deceased as Michelle Adams, 39, while three other women were hospitalized with serious injuries, identified as Dana Bonnell, 36, Mary C. Flood, 37, and Heather Miller, 40.

Officials said a dog was also fatally stabbed at the scene and that investigators believe the stabbings followed a crash on the highway, and that the attack is not believed to be terrorism related.

Investigation And Agency Responses

A State Department spokesperson confirmed the suspect worked as a Foreign Service Officer and said the agency extends its deepest condolences while declining to provide further details because the Virginia State Police are leading the investigation.

Dispatch audio reviewed by Fox News Digital indicated the incident began as a property damage crash before the suspect began stabbing people with a knife, and the Virginia Department of Transportation reported lane closures while police responded.

The trooper was not injured and has been placed on administrative leave, which officials said is standard procedure during investigations into officer involved shootings, and the suspect, Jared Llamado, was transported to a hospital where he later died.
