Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said investigators believe Nancy was taken from the residence against her will, and the FBI joined the probe.
Authorities disclosed that bloodstains at the home tested positive for Nancy’s DNA and that a doorbell camera was tampered with and later recovered, the FBI reported. FBI Director Kash Patel released images and video showing a masked, armed individual on the property and described that person as a suspect.
Investigators also reported that motion was recorded by home systems and that a bedside pacemaker monitor ceased transmitting, facts that prompted officials to treat the house as a crime scene. Deputies and search teams canvassed the neighborhood, collected forensic evidence, and sought footage from nearby cameras, according to the sheriff’s office.
Multiple purported ransom notes have circulated and media outlets have reported on them, but law enforcement has not publicly confirmed their authenticity. A California man was arrested on federal charges for allegedly posing as an abductor, and authorities said that scheme was unrelated to other widely publicized demands.

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings posted video appeals asking anyone with information to come forward, and the family offered a reward for details that help recover Nancy. Savannah told Hoda Kotb she and her siblings begged for proof of life and said the family was willing to pay, as reported by network coverage.
