The MICH 2000, a flying wing strike drone now operated exclusively by the Security Service of Ukraine’s Alfa unit, began as a Chinese civilian airframe and was converted into a domestically produced long range weapon, Oboronka reported.

Ukrainian engineers initially adapted commercially available models for attack missions, then observed production at a factory that made ZTK‑150 style airframes, which resemble Iranian Shahed designs but include small forward canards, the outlet said.

Testing in Ukraine exposed early problems. Initial prototypes suffered weight balance faults, propeller failures from vibration, and signal losses under electronic warfare, according to Oboronka. The platform entered combat after Alfa judged early results acceptable.

The manufacturer offers eight configurations described as middle strike and deep strike variants. Depending on configuration, the MICH 2000 can fly up to 2,000 kilometres and carry warheads between 25 and 60 kilograms. Operators can select analog, digital or Starlink communications and add terminal guidance options.

Oboronka and the manufacturer tied the system to a string of high profile strikes. Videos and reporting linked MICH 2000 attacks to hits on Moscow area targets, a Tu‑95MS bomber at Engels airfield with its rear section destroyed beyond repair, logistics and industrial sites in Russian regions, and the port of Ust‑Luga where more than 20 drones reached targets simultaneously.

Production Supply Chain And Operational Impact

The factory produces flying wing fuselages and sources engines, warheads, ignition boards and rocket‑assisted boosters from a network of domestic subcontractors, the company told Oboronka. Annual output currently runs at about 6,000 units with plans to scale toward 10,000.

Localization reaches roughly 85 percent by cost when the imported controlled CRPA anti‑jamming antennas are omitted. Adding those CRPA modules, which cost about $20,000 to $25,000 each, reduces localization to about 55 percent, the manufacturer said.

Pricing starts near $48,000 for a baseline MICH 2000 airframe, rising with add‑ons such as terminal guidance and CRPA channels. The Chinese original reportedly sold for about $50,000, the company told Oboronka.

The maker described a recent push to replace unreliable third‑party boosters after costly launch failures. It said it reinvests roughly $1 million per month in research and development, and is exploring joint production with Baltic partners under a Build With Ukraine model to expand financing and capacity.

The firm is also developing MICH+, a middle strike variant without front canards, carrying a larger 70 kilogram warhead with terminal guidance and a reduced range of about 600 kilometres, priced around $40,000, Oboronka reported.
