Summary
  • Kenneth Card says he received sirloin instead of filet mignon three times
  • Texas Roadhouse confirmed one mix up and corrected it in restaurant
  • An eight ounce filet costs about 30 dollars versus 20 dollars for sirloin
  • Company urges diners to alert servers if they receive the wrong steak

An Illinois man has accused a Texas Roadhouse location of repeatedly serving a cheaper cut of beef instead of the filet mignon he ordered, and his warning video has drawn thousands of views on social media.

Kenneth Card posted a TikTok saying he visited the Forsyth Illinois restaurant about once a week for more than a year and that on three separate visits he received sirloin rather than the filet mignon he had ordered.

Card said his experience working in hotel and restaurant kitchens helped him identify the cuts, and he described filet mignon as very tender and sirloin as chewier. He told Fox News Digital that he wanted to warn other diners about being charged for a higher priced cut while receiving a cheaper piece.

According to the restaurant website cited by Fox News Digital, an eight ounce sirloin at that location costs about 20 dollars while an eight ounce filet mignon costs around 30 dollars. Card said he raised the issue with staff the first time and the restaurant replaced the steak.

He said he ate the second steak without complaint. On the third occasion he reported the problem to a manager, and staff took the steak for a second opinion and then provided a replacement to take home.

Texas Roadhouse told Fox News Digital that it had not been able to track that the error occurred on three occasions, though it confirmed one mix up was corrected at the restaurant and said management quickly made it right. The company added that team members check food for quality and accuracy before it leaves the kitchen.

Reactions And Implications

The TikTok drew more than 30,000 views and prompted online reactions from other diners, some of whom said they experienced similar problems at the same location. Others questioned why Card continued to order filet mignon at the chain.

The Texas Roadhouse spokesperson advised customers who believe they received the wrong steak or were charged incorrectly to alert their server while still at the restaurant, so the issue can be addressed. Card said he does not expect to return to the Forsyth restaurant and will try another establishment.

The incident highlights customer concerns about order accuracy and price differences between cuts. The restaurant emphasized quality checks and offered a specific remedy in the confirmed instance, while it said it could not verify repeated occurrences.
