Kenneth Card, a regular patron of the Texas Roadhouse in Forsyth Illinois, posted a TikTok claiming he received sirloin instead of the filet mignon he ordered on three separate visits. His warning video drew more than 30,000 views, according to coverage of the post.
Card said he had visited the Forsyth location about once a week for over a year. He told Fox News Digital his prior work in hotel and restaurant kitchens, where he prepared and cut steaks, helped him recognize different cuts. He said, "I know what types of meat I get whenever I receive it."
According to Card's account, restaurant staff corrected the first incident when he complained. He said he ate a later order without raising the issue. On what he described as a third visit, a manager took the steak for a second opinion and, Card said, confirmed it was not the cut he had ordered. He waited for a replacement and then posted his video after leaving.
Price differences at the Forsyth location were central to Card's complaint. As reported by Fox News Digital, the restaurant's website lists an eight-ounce sirloin at about $20 and an eight-ounce filet mignon at about $30. Card framed the matter as a financial concern, saying customers could be paying more for a different, cheaper cut.
Reaction And Company Response
Texas Roadhouse told Fox News Digital it had "not been able to track that this occurred on three occasions" but confirmed that one mix-up at the restaurant was corrected and that management "quickly made it right." The company also stated that team members check food for quality and accuracy before it leaves the kitchen and advised customers to alert their server if they believe they received the wrong steak or were charged incorrectly.
The TikTok prompted mixed online reaction. Some commenters said they had experienced similar problems at the Forsyth location, with one alleging a ribeye was also substituted. Others questioned why Card continued visiting after his first complaint and suggested patrons might not always notice differences between cuts. Card said he does not expect to return to that location, saying, "I think I'm done going in there."
