Jaguar unveiled the Type 01, the British marque’s first production electric sedan, and positioned it as the design anchor for a broad model push. Jaguar said the four-door measures 208 inches long with a 126-inch wheelbase, and the company confirmed order books are open with deliveries expected to begin in mid-2027.
Powertrain figures are dramatic and come from Jaguar. The Type 01 pairs three electric motors for a combined 1,015 horsepower and 1,007 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar estimates the car will accelerate to 60 mph in about 3.1 seconds.
Jaguar described a split battery pack able to charge from both 400-volt and 800-volt chargers. The automaker said a 118-kilowatt-hour battery yields an estimated 400 miles of range, or about 320 miles at a steady 75 mph. On a 350-kW DC fast charger Jaguar estimates a 10-to-80 percent charge in roughly 22 minutes, and an additional 200 miles in about 13 minutes.
Design and interior details were emphasized in early reporting and by the reviewer Andrew Krok. The Type 01 retains the concept’s long-hood proportions and a distinct rear that replaces glass with a camera-mirror system. Krok noted the cabin feels compact for the car’s size, with a raised central “spine” and some constrained footroom for taller occupants. He also highlighted tiny rear-door openings and unconventional panels and storage as design-led choices.
The cockpit combines a large 24-inch OLED primary touchscreen and separate 7-inch portrait touchscreens for each row, running on an Nvidia-based software architecture with over-the-air updates. Audio is routed through a 13-speaker soundbar and additional speakers used for active noise functions. Jaguar said standard equipment includes all-wheel steering up to six degrees, air springs, adaptive dampers, and a 50:50 weight distribution.
Jaguar quoted an MSRP of $130,500 before destination charges. The company has not confirmed the mandatory destination fee, though reporting estimates a final starting price near $132,000 to $133,000 after freight.
Comparisons And Market Context
The Type 01’s length makes it a full-size flagship, but other electric vehicles exceed it in length. A comparison article reported the BMW i7 measures 212.2 inches long and the i7 M70 xDrive produces about 650 horsepower with a 0-60 mph time near 3.5 seconds. The Lucid Air is substantially shorter at 195.9 inches.
Luxury rivals include the Cadillac Celestiq at 217.2 inches and the Rolls-Royce Spectre at 215.6 inches. The same piece noted an even longer two-door electric coupe, the Rolls-Royce Nightingale, at 226.8 inches. The comparison also listed several large electric trucks and SUVs that surpass the Type 01 in overall length, including the GMC Hummer EV truck, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and Rivian R1T.
The reporting suggests Jaguar’s Type 01 aims to blend dramatic styling with high performance and long range, while other manufacturers continue to offer even larger electric land yachts and bespoke coachbuilt models for higher price points.
