Ford may add a Bronco pickup that would squarely target the Jeep Gladiator, according to an August 19 report in Automotive News citing people with knowledge of Ford’s future product plans.
The Bronco family now includes the two-door and four-door Bronco SUV and the Bronco Sport crossover. The reporting notes the Bronco New Energy EREV exists but is a China-only collaboration and is not counted among these models.
Automotive News says the Bronco pickup would bring Wrangler-like off road focus and open air capability to a midsize truck package. The story frames the truck as filling the gap between the adventure-oriented Bronco SUV and Ford’s practical Ranger midsize pickup.
Automotive News further reports the Bronco pickup is expected near the end of the decade. The outlet offers no final specifications or pricing, and it cites unnamed sources for the timing and intent.
Lincoln Variant And Timing
Separately, reports say Ford could build a Lincoln on the Bronco platform that aims at luxury off road buyers, as first reported in February and reiterated by the Detroit Free Press.
The Free Press cites two people familiar with Ford’s product plans who say the Lincoln variant is expected to reach showrooms in the summer of 2029. The report also places a starting price just below the current Lincoln Navigator’s roughly $90,000 entry point.
Lincoln declined to confirm details when asked. A Lincoln spokesperson told Road and Track, "Unfortunately, we do not speculate or comment on future product plans." The company gave no alternative timing or price guidance.
