nhtsa honda rearview camera recall covers 59,887 vehicles, Honda said in a Part 573 safety recall report filed with the NHTSA.

Honda and the NHTSA say the recall includes 2024 and 2025 Honda Prologue models and 2024 Acura ZDX vehicles, with a production-range basis used to identify affected cars.

The Part 573 filing lists 33,464 Prologue units from 2024, 10,735 Prologue units from 2025, and 15,688 Acura ZDX units, totaling 59,887 vehicles, according to the filing.

Investigators found the rearview camera housing may have been improperly bonded because a supplier's pre‑treatment, specifically plasma irradiation, affected the camera case bonding surface and reduced adhesive strength, the Part 573 report states.

As a result, portions of the adhesive can separate over time, permitting moisture intrusion that corrodes internal electrical components and can make the camera image blurry, distorted, or fail to display entirely, increasing crash or injury risk, the report says.

Honda estimated only about 5 percent of the recalled vehicles may actually have the defect, while the Part 573 filing lists an estimated defect involvement of 4.02 percent, reflecting differing company and filing estimates.

Under the remedy program, Honda will notify registered owners by mail and authorized dealers will replace the rearview camera with an improved part at no charge, according to both the NHTSA notice and Honda's recall documents.

Dealer notification was scheduled around May 15, 2026, and interim owner notification was set to begin on July 6, 2026, the Part 573 report and the NHTSA notice state.

Impact Repair And Context

Honda told owners dealers will replace affected cameras free and provided customer service and NHTSA contacts for questions, according to the news notices and the Part 573 report.

Owners may call Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, or contact the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236, and can search VINs on NHTSA.gov to confirm whether specific vehicles are included, the NHTSA notice says.

The Part 573 filing identifies the NHTSA campaign number 26V306000 and notes Honda has assigned recall identifiers including DO5 and DO6 as reported by the company in news notices.

Honda said the production issue was corrected on June 9, 2025, when improved rearview cameras with an improved bonding process entered production, the Part 573 report indicates.

Separate reporting noted the Prologue had earlier sales momentum but faced falling sales and that Honda trimmed 2026 Prologue pricing by $7,500 while offering new leasing deals and an updated 2026 model that does not include the recalled defect, according to the news article.
