Summary
  • Cash App launched Cash App Mobile with a $40 unlimited 5G plan
  • Plan uses AT&T network and is powered by Gigs with pilot rollout
  • Features include unlimited HD streaming and 10GB hotspot data
  • Google Play listing shows broad financial services and mixed user reviews

Cash App announced a new service called Cash App Mobile as it expands beyond payments, introducing a cash app mobile phone service that delivers unlimited 5G data, talk, and text for $40 per month with taxes and fees included.

The plan runs on the AT&T network and is powered by Gigs, a company that helps brands launch embedded mobile services, the company said.

Cash App Mobile launches as a pilot for select Cash App users with wider availability planned in the coming months, and the company emphasized no long term contracts, no credit checks, and no store visits.

Included features are unlimited HD streaming, 10GB of monthly hotspot data within the US, and data roaming in Canada and Mexico, the firm said.

Cash App framed the product for what it called Modern Earners, naming young adults, underbanked consumers, and gig workers who may lack steady income patterns but still need reliable connectivity.

App Context And User Feedback

The move follows Cash App usage trends the company pointed to, noting millions of users already use the Cash App Card to pay phone bills, and executive Owen Jennings said the goal is to deliver affordability and convenience by managing mobile service inside Cash App.

Gigs CEO Hermann Frank added that legacy carrier models do not reflect how many people live or earn today, as reported by the announcement.

The Cash App mobile application itself promotes many financial services, including sending and saving money, borrowing cash, investing in stocks and bitcoin, and offering a customizable Cash App Card that works with Apple Pay and Google Pay, according to the app store listing.

The app description lists features such as parental controls for teens, Cash App Green benefits, in‑network ATM withdrawals, overdraft coverage when eligible, and brokerage and bitcoin services provided by Block, Inc subsidiaries.

Google Play user reviews cited in the store listing include complaints about account closures, unreturned funds, lack of clear transfer confirmations, and persistent app glitches that at times force uninstall and reinstall for sign out or account switching.

The developer contact information on the app page gives a support phone number and a mailing address for Block, Inc, and notes privacy and data practices, including that data is encrypted in transit and that no data is shared with third parties, per the listing.
