Verizon has confirmed it will charge customers $10 per month to use Apple’s new iPhone Handoff feature, the carrier said as reported by MacRumors.

The carrier said iPhone Handoff lets customers use a single Verizon phone number across two compatible iPhone models and switch active status between devices while keeping access to Verizon’s 5G network.

Verizon added the service will be available on compatible iPhone models running iOS 27.

Carrier Responses And Market Context

Apple first outlined iPhone Handoff at its Surprise and Shine event and previously previewed the feature at WWDC, describing it as a way to share a single phone number across two iPhones.

T-Mobile earlier confirmed a $5 monthly charge for the feature. Deutsche Telekom made the capability available through its existing MultiSIM service, priced at €6.95 per month unless already included in a customer plan.

The Verizon price is twice the fee T-Mobile disclosed. MacRumors noted Verizon’s announcement after Apple said the feature would initially be supported by T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom, with Verizon and EE expected to follow.

AT&T told CNET it has no plans to support Apple’s iPhone Handoff. The carrier said it is focused on its existing eSIM activation and transfer options instead.

Differences in carrier pricing and rollout plans suggest customers will face varying costs and availability depending on their network choice and plan details. Verizon’s published wording emphasizes flexibility between devices and continued 5G access while using a shared number.
