Memorial Day 2026 will see Costco warehouses closed, the company says on its website, as the wholesaler observes the federal holiday.
Costco will reopen the day after the holiday during normal business hours, which vary by location, and customers are advised to check the store locator for local times.
The chain traditionally closes on several major holidays and the warehouses are listed as closed for New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Retailers Open And Other Holiday Service Notes
Most restaurants, grocery stores and national retailers will remain open for the holiday, USA TODAY reports, while banks, post offices, shipping services and the stock market will be closed because Memorial Day is a federal holiday.
Several national chains plan to operate on the holiday with differing schedules. Best Buy lists hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tractor Supply will open at its normal time and close at 6 p.m., and other chains report normal business hours that may vary by location.
Home Depot, HomeGoods, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s and TJ Maxx are among the retailers expected to be open under their regular hours, but local variations may apply and shoppers should confirm times before visiting.
Grocery availability will be broad. Kroger says on its website that stores will be open, though pharmacy and clinic hours may differ. Walmart and Food Lion confirmed to USA TODAY that their stores will operate regular hours, and Trader Joe’s, Meijer, Publix and Whole Foods have traditionally been open on the holiday.
Wholesale clubs will follow their own holiday schedules. Sam’s Club will open for Plus members before Club members and close earlier in the evening, and BJ’s lists extended holiday hours, according to company websites as reported by USA TODAY.
Shoppers seeking specific times should verify with their local stores ahead of travel, since retailers vary by market and several chains note that hours may differ by location.
