  • Ring measures 6.09mm by 2.28mm and uses a free sizing kit.
  • New sensors stronger LEDs improve workout detection and accuracy across skin tones.
  • Health Radar adds blood pressure patterns and 30 day nighttime breathing trends.
  • $99 charging case holds five charges and supports Bluetooth locating and wireless charging.

The Oura Ring 5 arrives as a markedly smaller smart ring, and Oura says the device is 40 percent smaller than the previous model while tracking over 50 health metrics with research grade accuracy.

The company described the redesign as a rethink of sensors, battery and geometry, and Holly Shelton, Oura chief product officer, called it the most significant leap in smart ring history in a company press release.

The ring measures about 6.09 millimeters wide and 2.28 millimeters thick, compared with the prior generation at 7.9 millimeters wide and 2.88 millimeters thick, and Oura recommends using its free sizing kit because fit differs from earlier models.

Oura says the Ring 5 is waterproof, scratch resistant and available in six finishes, including a redesigned lighter gold and a new deep rose, and it uses an extra strong PVD titanium coating across finishes.

Software Features Charging Options Pricing And Privacy

Oura built stronger LEDs and new sensors into the smaller body, and the company says these changes improve accuracy across skin tones and during high motion activity while boosting automatic workout detection.

The ring adds a live activity tracking experience with real time pace and distance, and the app can display heart rate zones and connected heart rate data from supported Bluetooth devices during workouts.

The expanded Health Radar adds blood pressure pattern monitoring for long term trends and a 30 day view of nighttime breathing disturbances, while Oura labels these as wellness indicators rather than approved diagnostic tools.

Battery life varies by size, with Oura estimating six to nine days on the Ring 5, and the company offers a $99 portable charging case that holds up to five full charges, supports wireless charging, and ties to a specific ring size.

The case also integrates with an improved Locate feature that uses Bluetooth proximity guidance to help find a nearby ring, and Oura plans to make many software updates available to Gen 3 and later models.

Oura has broadened services with GLP 1 insights for people tracking medication effects and a partnership with Counsel Health to offer optional telehealth visits and lab uploads inside the app.

The Ring 5 is available for preorder and is set to ship June 4, with pricing starting at $399 for Silver and Black finishes and premium finishes starting at $499, and Oura membership remains $6 per month or $70 per year.
