McDonald's announced its 2026 Halloween Boo Bucket lineup, centering on five Disney villains. The collection includes Scar, Cruella, Ursula, Jafar and Maleficent, each rendered as an illustrated collectible bucket.

Each bucket comes with a sticker sheet unique to its movie and intended for decorating the pail. McDonald's says the sticker sheets include details "true fans will recognize." All buckets share a yellow handle with the chain's Golden Arches and span a wide range of colors.

The Boo Buckets will be available with the purchase of a Happy Meal at participating locations starting October 20. McDonald's said the buckets are a limited time offer while supplies last, urging customers to plan drive-thru runs ahead of trick-or-treat season.

History And Market Context

Boo Buckets first appeared in 1986 as the Halloween Pumpkin Happy Meals with three pumpkin-shaped pails bearing jack-o'-lantern designs. Over the years the promotional pails evolved to include ghost and witch motifs and introduced features such as glow-in-the-dark materials and built-in Halloween cookie cutters.

After 2016 McDonald's paused the annual collectibles. The chain revived the tradition in 2022 following years of customer demand and has offered Boo Buckets each Halloween season since. The 2026 Disney villain set is the first movie-themed run since the 2022 relaunch.

McDonald's has previously collaborated on Boo Bucket designs with brands including Mr. Potato Head, Scooby-Doo, Monster High, Minions and Peanuts. The new Disney set joins that list and ties the seasonal promotion to widely recognized film characters.
