Kayem Foods has announced a nationwide recall of more than 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat products after authorities flagged possible unsafe storage temperatures. The company and the Food Safety and Inspection Service said the recall covers dozens of items sold under various brand names across the country.

The recalled items include hot dogs, deli meats, cocktail franks, corned beef, bacon and chicken sausage. The Food Safety and Inspection Service said the products were produced between approximately March 31 and October 7 of this year and were shipped to retail and food service locations nationwide.

The agency noted there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the products so far. Consumers who purchased any of the affected items were advised not to eat them. The guidance from the Food Safety and Inspection Service is to throw the products away or return them to the place of purchase.

Distribution Scope And Consumer Guidance

The recall affects products sold under a variety of brand names, the agency said, and it applies to shipments that reached retailers and food service operations around the country. The Food Safety and Inspection Service directed consumers and businesses to consult the agency for a full list of affected items to confirm whether purchased products are included.

The recall stems from concern that products may have been stored at temperatures that could allow bacterial growth or otherwise compromise food safety, the agency said. Kayem Foods and the Food Safety and Inspection Service emphasized the importance of checking packaging and following disposal or return instructions to limit any potential risk.

Retailers and food service operators that received recalled shipments should follow established product control procedures, the agency added. Consumers with questions were directed to contact their point of purchase or consult the Food Safety and Inspection Service for more information.
