News of oliver tree death was confirmed by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro after two helicopters collided in mid-air over the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood, the agency said.

The police said five people aboard one of the aircraft died, while the other helicopter carried only its pilot. The musician was 32.

Preliminary reports from the fire department said the aircraft collided before crashing. CBC reported the helicopters then fell atop a car dealership that stored electric vehicles.

CNN reported that approximately 20 vehicles were struck and caught fire at the scene. The Civil Police said an investigation is pending and that a forensic examination of the scene has been requested.

The musician was in Rio de Janeiro as part of The World’s First World Tour, which began May 30 in Mexico City, according to tour information. He had performed in São Paulo on June 6 and was scheduled to open the European leg in Lisbon on July 1.

Oliver Tree first rose to public attention through Whethan’s viral alternative pop track "When I’m Down" and was signed to Atlantic Records in 2017. He released his debut album Ugly Is Beautiful in 2020.
