At Madison Square Garden spurs vs knicks fans loudly booed President Donald Trump before Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
The jeers began when the Jumbotron showed him in Knicks owner James Dolan's suite during the national anthem.
The Knicks lost Game 3 to the San Antonio Spurs 115-111, ending a 13-game playoff win streak, the second-longest in NBA history.
The team had entered the series with a 2-0 lead after winning both opening games in San Antonio, and Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Garden.
Reactions And Security
The president's motorcade passed signs reading "Nobody wants you here" and "Trump must go" as it moved toward the arena, and some onlookers along the street booed while others waved American flags.
Security screening for the president's appearance caused waits of two hours or more for ticket-holding fans to enter the arena, and local game watch parties were canceled in the surrounding area, the report says.
In Dolan's suite with the president were his granddaughter Kai Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and his valet Walt Nauta, while Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick sat courtside.
Also at the game were New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, former Mayor Mike Bloomberg, and celebrities including Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Timothée Chalamet, Mariska Hargitay, and Christopher Meloni; a loose ball scramble early in the fourth quarter sent Knicks guard Jose Alvardo into Bloomberg's lap.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries told CNN he resented the president's presence, saying "Why does Donald Trump always have to ruin a good thing?" as reported by the source.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver told ESPN's "Inside The NBA" that Trump is "welcome to be here" and that sports are a common bond, and Silver later visited Dolan's suite and spoke with the president.
