  • Siri AI and some Apple Intelligence features need iPhone 15 Pro or later

Apple announced iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 and confirmed the ios 27 release date will be in September, while prerelease betas are available beforehand.

The company said the developer beta is already available to eligible devices and a public beta is expected to arrive next month, with one report citing mid July for the public build.

Apple said iOS 27 will run on iPhones dating back to the iPhone 11 series and on iPhone SE second generation and newer, while the update brings a revamped Siri AI, Apple Intelligence features and upgrades to Photos, Safari, Wallet and Camera.

How To Get The Beta And Hardware Limits

Apple recommends backing up your iPhone before installing prerelease software, and advises using a secondary device because betas can cause battery drain and app instability.

Developers can install the iOS 27 developer beta by signing in to a Developer account, using the Apple Developer app to enroll the device, then opening Settings, tapping General, selecting Software Update, choosing Beta Updates and picking the iOS 27 Developer Beta to download.

Additional preparation steps documented include enabling an iCloud backup via Settings by selecting your name, choosing iCloud, tapping iCloud Backup and then Back Up Now, and following on‑screen prompts to join a Siri waitlist from the new Siri menu in Settings.

Apple warned that some Apple Intelligence features will require newer hardware. The reporting states Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI will be available only on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and all versions of iPhone 16 and later, so not all supported phones will gain every feature.

The company said the stable iOS 27 release will arrive later in the year, with the public beta offering a more polished experience than the developer build and the full release timed to coincide with the usual autumn software rollout.
